BNL Governance

  • Baseball NL rules will apply in all situations unless otherwise stated differently below.
  • Baseball NL rules apply for all tie breakers.

Tournament Contact / Game Reporting

  • The contact for the tournament will be Dave Smith. He can be reached via email at [email protected] or via cell at (709) 743-5659
  • After each game the head coach must text/email the game result to Dave as well as the pitchers used with number of innings pitched for that game for their team.

Field Location / Schedule

  • Games for each division will be taking place at Kiwanis Field (Kelligrews), Stoney Hill, and Parsons Field (Seal Cove). Pay close attention for your assigned field for each game.
  • If required, due to any reason, the schedule maybe changed on short notice.


  • There will be two umpires per game including playoffs
  • Umpires will be instructed to abide by the yellow card rule of Baseball NL. There will zero tolerance of abuse or bullying of any officials.
  • Umpires, at their discretion, may call a player out for not sliding into any base except 1st on a close play.
  • Home plate umpire will be positioned behind the catcher.

Home Team

  • Home team will be decided by a coin flip before each round robin game. The higher seed will be the home team in the playoffs.


  • All roster players must be in the batting line-up for the entire game. They can move freely in and out of the field defensively, but each player must play a minimum of two (2) full defensive innings per game.

Pitcher / Catcher

  • A pitcher may pitch a total of 8 innings in the tournament, including play-off games.
  • Pitchers may not pitch more than 2 innings in any one game.
  • Pitchers are permitted to pitch in more than one game in the same day, as long as their maximum innings does not exceed eight (8) for the tournament or 4 for a day. A pitcher removed from the position during a game shall not be permitted to return to pitch that same game.
  • You can't pitch and catch in the same game.


  • Any game called due to darkness or weather will be considered complete after 4 full innings of play for round robin games.
  • The games will be a maximum of 6 innings in length. Ties are accepted in round robin play.
  • There will be a maximum of 3 runs per inning, with the final inning being open.
  • Open inning will commence with the next full inning that begins once 1 hour 45 minutes of playing time has been reached.
  • Mercy rule is in effect if leading by 10 runs after 4 innings of play for round robin and playoffs (excludes championship game).
  • 6 innings will be played for the championship game. Mercy rule is in effect after 5 innings.

Base Stealing / Safety Line

  • Stealing is permitted at any base, however lead-offs are not permitted in 11U Baseball.
  • There is no safety line in use, all plays at home are tag plays unless there is a force.
